My Buffalo Chicken Wings Experience in Buffalo, NY
When I knew I was gonna visit Buffalo for the first time, I immediately want to eat Buffalo wings there because that’s where it came from. I researched the places on where to get the saucy chicken in the city and found the two most famous ones. Now, whenever I go to Buffalo since it’s a close drive away from my hometown, an easy day trip, I make sure to drop by one of these restaurants for some hot wings!
Anchor Bar
The birthplace of Buffalo Wings, the first ever location is at 1047 Main St in Buffalo which opened in 1964. Form then, it made its name and expanded to open in other cities in western New York.
I went to the original location for the full experience. Nice dive bar interior, accomplishments hanging in frames all over the walls, trophies lined up in the main entrance to ogle while waiting.
Got the Suicidal sauce, garlic parmesan, and waffle cut sweet potato fries. Ordered single serving which is 10 wings. You don’t have to do this, go for the original mild or medium flavour. I’m crazy to try suicidal because I’m up for the challenge (and I like spicy).
The wings reached our table looking like they were dry rubbed served with carrots, celery, and blue cheese.
Tried out the Suicidal wings, tasted the heat which I think comes from the use of ghost peppers. It numbed my senses and the spiciness is that type that sticks on your mouth spice material which was not the one I’m used to. Took a while to get used to so after my mouth is numb, I just kept eating.
The waffle cut sweet potato fries were bomb! Crispy and nicely seasoned. Dipped in honey and the sweet and salty flavour indulged my palette!
Garlic Parmesan is seasoned with the cayenne pepper vinegar based spicy mixed with parmesan sprinkled with herbs. Spicy vinegar based well-balanced with the parmesan.
