5 Best Nature Things To Do In Vancouver For The Lazy
The beautiful British Columbia is rich in amazing nature scenery so it’s great to explore the province and do outdoor activities. You can do extreme activities all through season but there are also activities where you can just admire the great outdoors without exhausting yourself. This post is dedicated for lazy people like me and my friend who enjoys nature in Vancouver but doesn’t want to walk for more than 10 minutes haha.
I visited my friend who works in Vancouver and went on a 4 days trip. We went to various destinations inside and outside the city. She is not very big on going on long hikes and camping but do enjoys the outdoors so that’s what we ended up doing. I didn’t mind at all because I’m a flexible traveler and with a carry-on suitcase, I didn’t bring my hiking gear and boots lol. If you want to admire the scenery without doing anything, this is the perfect list to enjoy nature things for the lazy in Vancouver and vicinity.
1. Deep Cove
Deep Cove is a quiet cove located in North Vancouver where you can escape the bustling Vancouver city and enjoy peaceful leisure walks. My friend and I went here for one afternoon after our city escapade on day 1 of my trip. There’s a dock area for boats and you can also do crabbing and fishing here.
Also, here lives Honey Doughnuts & Goodies, a cafe and a doughnut place that is very popular that people in fact all the way here to Deep Cove just to get their famous honey dip doughnut. Of course, I was one of those people that went here to enjoy honey dip as part of my Vancouver doughnut trip. What you do here is sit on one of the benches overlooking the water and enjoy your doughnut.
2. Shannon Falls
Head over to Shannon Fall Provincial Park if you want to see a beautiful local falls without walking for no more than 10 minutes. The park is about 45 minutes north of Vancouver driving through the Sea-to-Sky highway. Once you get in the park, you’ll hear the sound of the waterfalls and head over there right away to see the third tallest waterfalls in British Columbia!
3. Stanley Park
Stanley Park is Vancouver’s main park and a major tourist attraction. There is a lot to do here, sites to see and various lookouts to enjoy the mountain views as well as Vancouver skyline. Head over to the parking lot beside the Prospect Point Lookout. After, continue on Stanley Park Drive to the other parking that’s close to the Ferguson Lookout and Third Beach and then the main parking lot where you can see the totem poles.
4. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge
The other less popular and free suspension bridge that’s not Capilano. It’s at the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre and a short walk from the parking lot. Walk on the suspension bridge on top of the gushing river and there’s the twin falls you can look at as well. You can do more and walk on the Baden Powell Trail and hit the Seymour River Suspension Bridge if you want to do more than the lazy way.
5. Highview Lookout (Cypress Hill Provincial Park)
If you want to see Vancouver up a mountain without the hike then this spot is for you! A short 20 minutes drive so it’s super close to Vancity on the Cypress Hill Provincial Park. Once you reach the lookout, that’s it! You don’t need to walk any farther lol. Make sure to go here during sunset for a stunning view of the city, the Lions Gate Bridge, and Stanley Park.
