The 4 Best Things To Do in New Brunswick For a 2 Days Road Trip

New Brunswick is one of the Maritime provinces in the East Canada and the first province you’ll explore coming from Quebec province. I did a week road trip exploring the three Maritime provinces and New Brunswick was a gem! Very gorgeous landscape and rows of lupins letting your know summer is here! There’s so many amazing places here from food, culture, and nature. This province is considerably small so you can go around it by car and hit the best spots then continue your way to the next province. Therefore, 2 days is enough to do the best things in New Brunswick.

New Brunswick has an amazing coast line that you get to drive by and on summer, lupins are full bloom! Rows of purple plants dancing from the wind. They’re so pretty and there were even white ones! I got to experience things like this that I wouldn’t exchange for the world. It will forever be imprinted in my memory. Also, travelling by car makes your schedule super flexible running on your own time. This allowed my friends and I the ability to plan the best route so we got to explore the top destinations of the province. I give you the 4 best things to do to experience all of New Brunswick.

4. Eat Potatoes at Potato World

Potato World is a top New Brunswick attraction that has all the information you need to know about potatoes. You’ll learn a lot about its history, how they’re grown, different types, and their rise to popularity. tLocated in Florenceville-Bristol which is an hour and 25 minutes away from Edmundston, most likely where you’re going to cross the Quebec-New Brunswick border. You will most likely notice you’re surrounded by potatoes in the drive there! Very important part of NB industry, their reputation as the French Fry Capital of the World is proven as they supply one-third of potatoes in the world!

This can be the first thing you do or the last thing you do because it’s by the the border. So you can either explore the province with your belly full of potatoes or leave the province satisfied that you’ve had the best potatoes in the world!

3. Learn Acadian Culture by City Hopping

Spend some hours stopping by cities Moncton, Fredricton, and Saint John, they’re the popular cities of the province and very rich in Acadian culture. You can spend an two hours or three walking about the main streets and can even go to a local restaurants for amazing seafood! That’s actually what my friends and I did. We planned it so we were in the cities around lunch time and dinner time.

Stop By Fredricton for dinner and stay here overnight on day 1 is my recommendation. The next day you can head to Saint John early morning. Moncton can be your third and last city. So you can stay here on the second day before leaving the province to go to Prince Edward Island.

2. Explore Fundy National Park

Bay of Fundy is a shoreline area in New Brunswick famous for high tides so there are many parks beside it. Fundy National Park is one of the top park attractions here. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours in a nature escape walking tour. The tall lush green trees shade you from the extreme heat so it was really nice to walk around. Make sure to visit the Laverty Falls which is inside the park for a break and dip your feet on the water. You can reach it by following the Laverty Falls Trail path which leads you to it.

We came here in the afternoon after lunch coming from Saint John. It was nice to walk around after getting stuffed with seafood. Super relaxing nature walk and the sound of the water on the falls gives you a peace of mind.

1. Walk on Hopewell Rocks

Hopewell Rocks is a very famous destination in New Brunswick. This is one destination you should not miss and I recommend to get the full experience. Also, note that the rocks are not in Fundy National Park, it’s actually in a different park and they’re about 30 minutes apart because you would think this is inside Fundy since it’s the Bay of Fundy. We went here after exploring Fundy National Park and time it well to see it in low tide and high tide.

It was truly a magical experience to see the waters go up and down brought by natural phenomena. Bay of Fundy where the rocks are located is a region of high tides and erosion caused the rocks to form flower pots. Hence the formation of its other name the ‘Flowerpots Rocks’. We were up the top to see it on a high tide and made our way down the rocks when low tide started for the full experience!

I advice to check the timetable for high tides and low tides. You can walk around the rocks during low tide. I remember the tour guide shared a story how a man wanted to see the high tide and stayed in the platform inside the cave stuck for some amount of time surrounded by water. He waited until the next low tide to get out of the Hopewell Rocks. We actually got to experience both tides.
