Inside The AAA Four-Diamond All-inclusive Hilton Playa del Carmen Resort
My 8 days Mexico trip exploring the Yucatán Peninsula was an all encompassing trip. I had a relaxation time, historical time, city time, and food time. My first two days in Mexico was in Playa del Carmen but I landed in Cancun. I totally skipped Cancun to escape the even larger tourist crowd because I know there’s more at Riviera Maya than college kids, partying, and drinking. I decided to go to the neighbouring resort town of Playa del Carmen and stay at Hilton Playa del Carmen. No regrets because I ended up staying at this awesome paradise and was treated like royalty!
Staying at all-inclusive or vacation packages where food, alcohol, flights, etc are all included in the price never appealed to me before. But I saw this resort at Playa del Carmen so I thought I’d give it a try. I honestly enjoyed it and I am very happy to say that I’ll be back! Very excited to stay an an all include resort because I never stayed in one before.
Hilton Playa del Carmen, an Adult Only All-Inclusive Resort
AAA Four-Diamond Adult Only All-inclusive Hilton Playa del Carmen Resort is a very high-end all inclusive resort right in the resort town of Playa del Carmen. What does Adult only means? It means no children and in Mexico, the legal drinking age is 18 years old so I think you have to be 18 in order to stay at the resort.
By ADO bus, it is only 45 minutes from Cancun International Airport to the Playa del Carmen Centro Historico Bus Terminal. From there, the hotel is about a 15 minutes walk on the famous Fifth Avenue, the main street. Another way is to take a taxi as there’s plenty in the town.
I got an amazing rate to stay at this resort because I get Family & Friends rate. It was USD 164.88 a night and I got 20% more points on top of the base points I earn because I’m a Silver Hilton Honors member. The service was top notch. Right when I walked in the foyer, the staff ushered me right away to the front desk for check-in. I received two water bottles as complimentary for being a Silver member. The receptionist provided maps and information about the services and amenities. Honestly, I had to use the map to figure out where stuff are and the restaurants the place was massive that I had a feeling I’d get lost if I didn’t use resort navigation. Then, one of the personnels took my stuff and assisted me to my suite. It was all the way in the other building.
The Suite
I booked Junior Suite Garden View room and oh my! The room was so spacious and the view is absolutely amazing from the balcony!
I couldn’t hide my surprise and my eyes opened really wide when I walked in my suite. The junior suite has a jetted tub inside separate from the bathroom and if you open the window, you’ll be overlooking the garden.
Relax and Unwind
The resort is truly a paradise. With the beach right beside you and there’s swimming pools on every corner and two main pools in the middle of the resort. Everything is here. Wi-Fi is great and super fast. I realized maybe next time I’ll bring my laptop and do some work. I saw lots of people with their laptops on the beach beds.
Also, when you walk in, there’s a huge lobby and since it was Christmas time, it was very festive decorated with poinsettias and a super tall Christmas tree. Comfortable seats surround the big lobby area and every corner there is food and liquor.
Unlimited Food and Booze
I went to almost all the restaurants and food places here. You can taste all the food in the world at Spice, the all-you-can-eat-buffet restaurant right close to the lobby.
Food and liquor everywhere! My favourites! Absolute paradise! I love trying out new cuisines and also eating the ones I really like. This resort definitely meets my expectations. They showcased international cuisines, regional Mayan cuisine and traditional Mexican too. My love for guacamole proves just as strong from eating guacamole from the land of guacamole! Tequila is also one of my favourite hard liquor. They kept offering it even for breakfast: ‘Mimosa? Mimosa, señorita!?’ Haha! They gave me a daily schedule of their opening hours. How awesome is that!?
I explored the whole resort to figure out where the restaurants, bars, and cafes were located. The cafe called Aromas has great space, couches, coffee, ice cream, and cake. They are located just right at the lobby! I passed by it when I had to go back to my suite so I always stopped by for either a coffee or an ice cream. The space is lovely because it’s overlooking the bay!
They have a French-Mexican fusion restaurant called Maria Marie which is only open for dinner and only accepts reservation. When I heard that , I immediately put my name down on the list. The service, space, and food were all top notch. Actually, everywhere was diamond class service that I never imagined I’d able to experience.
My favourite was Rincon Mexicon where I went for lunch on my second day. It is only open for lunch from 11:00 – 17:00. The view overlooking the Carmen Beach while eating my favourite dish enchilada was a moment I’d never forget.
They have this bar and lounge that absolutely became another favourite when the night continued called Cantina La Mejorada. The mixologists make super great cocktails based on your taste. I didn’t have to do much, I told them I wanted something sour in a citrus based like lemon or lime and then he made this beautiful and tasty concoction for me that I absolutely loved!
Spa Amenities
When I wasn’t eating or drinking, I was at the spa. I spent at least half my time here while I was staying at the resort. I felt all the toxic substances leave my body. Haha! I was taken care of right when I entered the spa and even made me mint water and put cucumber in my eyes! It was so refreshing! Pro tip, I saw the lady bend it to release the juice so I definitely felt the freshness. Their spa is fully equipped with shower, robs to use while using the facilities, and drinks. Don’t forget to be in your swimwear!
Overall An Awesome Stay!
I really enjoyed my stay here from the food, people, services, and liquor. I am ashamed to say this but the food and liquor won. They kept offering me food when I just ate literally half an hour ago. I went out to explore the town so I can digest but it’s not enough. I loved every minute of my stay here and I didn’t realize the time passed by until I had to eat and drink again.
First night, there was a stage performance in the lobby area that I managed to catch for a good one hour. The second night was a ‘silent’ dance night with a different vibe. They gave headsets that you had to wear that had three stations you can flip through. If you like the song, then you can go dance the night away with a drink in hand and that’s what I did.
Overall, Hilton Playa del Carmen is the destination place you’ll ever dream of. You will truly feel like royalty and away from the city crowds. Quiet and relaxed with the beachfront easily accessible. I don’t hear the busy Fifth Avenue tourist crowds. It’s definitely the perfect getaway.
